I am an artist, writer, activist, organizer, gardener, poet, and re-emerging performer living in Oakland, CA. My world is full of all kinds of magic, from tree collards and singing lessons to newborn babies (not my own!) and bicycles. I have been making art for as long as I can remember, and began writing poems when I was 6. In 2002 I cofounded The Icarus Project, a radical mental health support network and media project by and for people living with the dangerous gifts that our society commonly labels as "mentally illnesses." I have organized, toured, written, designed, schemed and plotted around healing and craziness with Icaristas for many years, as well as working with the Bay Area Radical Mental Health Collective. I'm currently engaged in co-editing an anthology on trauma and resilience called Scarsongs, and am working on assembling a zine/chapbook of my own poetry. My artwork is frequently available for sale or in prints, if you ask me nicely, and I'd love to talk about collaborating on artshows, coming out to perform poetry and spoken word (and maybe songs!), facilitating workshops, doing public speaking around mental health, or otherwise being involved in events that spread art, radical honesty, and liberation. Be in touch!
